Words of Wisdom: Keys to Success in the Scripps National Spelling Bee is a comprehensive guide written by Scott Remer, who placed 34th in 2007 and 4th in 2008. Painstakingly researched, there are over 12,000 competition-level words and an abundance of observations, exercises, and advice to prepare the serious speller to contend in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. To reflect recent rule changes, the expanded 4th edition now includes a vocabulary section. Scott was always a superlative speller, and his mother asked the Beachwood school system to participate in the Plain Dealer’s Northeast Ohio regional spelling bee. Here’s a bit more about the author: Scott was born on November 19, 1993 in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated Yale University in 2016 with a major in Ethics, Politics, and Economics. He recently received a master’s degree in Political Thought & Intellectual History from the University of Cambridge and currently resides in New York City. Words of Wisdom was his first book, but it will not be his last.
